Research

My research agenda is animated by understanding how polities relate to each other, how alterity manifest itself across time and space, and the the evolution of the international society. That means studying identities, concepts, temporality, and knowledge throughout history.

Identity

This monograph-length research investigates how Iran represented Europe within he broader history of the evolution and transformation of international society.

Concepts

I rely on conceptual history as a way to highlight socio-political changes. My recent project on the conceptual history of interntional order uses conceptual history to investigate this key concept shaping our understanding of international politics and arguing that time, space, language, and religion matter when we talk about it.

Time

One of the underlying themes in my research is the prominence of time. It matters in international politics and manifest itself in multiple ways. I locate temporalities in my case studies and discuss its implications for understanding the case and broader international relations.

Knowledge

I keep coming across knowledge production practices that enable or disable, stabilise or rupture, and crea specific conditions for actions. Knowledge production through memorialisation, translation, and mediation are the three cases that I am working on with my colleagues.
